Garmin is canceling the rescue cost reimbursement plans. Any medical helicopter trip in the US will bankrupt you. Typical medical insurance coverage very limited. Very controversial industry.

Hi Michnus, been using the Spot Gen 3 for about 2 years now. Perfect for my tours as it is simple to plug in and change the Backup Drivers/Emergency contact details for each tour as every tour i use different people. Website is easy to use and it is well priced. The great thing is that you can activate/deactivate when needed, which came in handy now during Covid.

You can use regular AAA batteries (available anywhere) in your SPOT just fine… They just might not last quite as long. I consider this a major plus over the Inreach.

Don’t you need a phone to use with Garmin mini? Is Garmin mini easier to use than Garmin inReach?
